There are few things that bring us more joy than chatting with like-minded women, from different walks of life, talking about anything and everything, over a long and luxurious feast.
On Tuesday, we partnered with Dishoom to host belated Eid celebrations with friends from our community. Bringing together creatives, friends old and new, for some good conversation, plenty of laughter and an incredible feast served up by the wonderful people at Dishoom.

The evening was filled with a endless laughter, as everyone caught up over their Eid, shared their life updates and of course, ordering multiple rounds of mango lassi and watermelon sharbat.
After everyone was sufficiently nourished (full to the brim, alhamdulillah), we took a moment to ask everyone what their favourite Eid traditions - before we resumed sharing silly stories and gushing over wedding photos with kulfi and chai in hand.
Thank you to Dishoom for the abundance of delicious food and giving us the space to yap and be together. <3

What are your favourite Eid traditions?
“My family is Palestinian, so we always cook Palestinian dishes. It’s normally a labour of love with all the different women in the family. From the grandkids, all the way up to the grandparents.” Dania Arafeh, Founder of 3EIB
“It’s a party every year, with good food. I’m Moroccan and we watch the King pray. They put it on live television and we all watch. We go by the water a lot, and we dress up in traditional Moroccan clothing, like kaftas, and we laugh and we share lots of memories” Zina Louhaichy, Creative
“There’s a Subway right next to our mosque and I don’t know what it is, but ever since we were little, we’d have a subway after our Eid prayer. We’re not 11 anymore but we’ll still get our Subway. Then we’ll go home afterwards and have a nap. After we’ve woken up, we’ll have our family come over, we’ll cook and everyone brings a meal and we’ll have traditional celebrations.” Alia, Model
“You’re lucky that you get a nap, my mum expects us to be up at the crack of dawn and we’ll be waiting hours for our cousins coming over. But you know what? The undefeated array of food, getting the family together, it’s so nice. In our culture we always eat well but on Eid the food goes in. It hits different. It’s just wholesome and I am a real fan of the togetherness that comes with Eid.” Arooj Aftab, Creative Consultant
“We all go to Eid salah and we come home, read Quran. My mum makes sure that we always read Quran to understand the benefits of Eid and make sure we always hold it close to our heart. We always do an activity for Eid and it’s usually bowling. So we always go bowling, or ice skating in Park Royal or Queensway. We do it every year and it’s really fun and my grandma comes. She only bowls once or twice but she thinks she’s better than us and she is.” Abrar Mohamed, Model
“I’m Algerian and we do henna on our hands the day before and we’ll make lots of biscuits and cakes. Then we just cook Algerian dishes, like couscous or reshta, and family come over, and it’s just a big fat feast.” Yesmine, Fashion Stylist

“In the morning I have a traditional Bangladeshi dish called shemai, and we’ll have that with tea. Then we go to my local mosque, who organise a prayer in the park and a funfair for the family. Me and my family usually do a little picnic after we pray and it’s really nice to see the community come together after the morning prayer.” Farzana Ahmed, Graphic Designer
“We get a pinata and we fill it up with coins and different candies. Some of them are traditional sour candies and everyone in the family gets blind folded and hits it and everyone gets the coins and candy.” Leen Ajlan, Designer & Architect
And as a parting gift…
We love to treat our sisters well, so we made sure that everyone not only took home plenty of leftovers but also left with some additional goodies courtesy of Dishoom, Mauli Rituals, The Date Parlour and Fable & Mane.
Thank you to everyone involved for helping us to give these gorgeous treats as an Eid gift!
