As we enter the final 10 nights of Ramadan, we might be starting to think about Eid and the celebrations that come with it. Many of us will start to be thinking about the delicious foods that we’ll be cooking and sharing, anticipating the loved ones that we’ll get to be united with, planning what we might choose to wear and of course organising what we’re gifting the favourite people in our lives.
The act of giving gifts can be so special in helping us to show the most important people in our lives that we care and that we think of them. Intentionally chosen presents hold more meaning than just their monetary value: they don’t have to be big or expensive to be meaningful. They can be small, handmade and low in cost but they will still bring joy into the lives of others because we have put thought and care into them. Fundamentally, they serve as a physical token of our love, our appreciation, our gratitude and remain as reminders of the deep bonds that connect us.
The joy of seeing my favourite people carefully unwrap their presents and revel in delight at the gifts I’ve chosen for them honestly brings infinite more joy than opening my own. I love shopping for other people - I love buying special treats for my parents or my sister, or friends: things that they typically wouldn’t buy for themselves. Little luxuries that might make them feel a little bit fancy and things that they’ll appreciate and use for a long time.
This year, we wanted to shine a spotlight on incredible Muslim-owned & POC-owned businesses with a specially curated gift guide to help you find the perfect Eid present for your loved ones. Our community is filled with an abundance of creativity and talent, and what better way to show you truly care than with a thoughtfully crafted and beautifully designed gift?
We hope that you’ll love these selections and will feel inspired to gift your favourite people something that is truly meaningful to them.
